Pasan Sun Simulator IIIa

The Sun Simulator IIIa is the workhorse of the Pasan range of simulators. It includes a 2 ms light pulse and 2 x 2 m testing area. It is fully IEC class A specified and it is suitable for end-production line testing.

Pasan Sun Simulator IIIb

d The Sun Simulator IIIb, with its light pulse duration of 10 ms stabilized to better than 1 %, its uniformity better than 1 % on the test field of 3 x 3 m and the tighter control of spectral match gives performances better at least by a factor of 2 against IEC class A specifications. This model is particularly suitable for high-accuracy testing at laboratory level or for demanding applications at production level. Its long pulse allows accurate testing of most of amorphous modules as well.

Pasan Sun Simulator IIIc

The Sun Simulator IIIc has the same overall specifications as the Sun Simulator IIIb except the test field which is limited at 2 x 2 m. The Sun Simulator IIIc and the Sun Simulator IIIb are equipped with specially developed interferential spectral filters, resulting in an improved spectral match (< +/- 12.5% instead of 25%) at 1 kW/m2.

The Medium Module Tester is a small Sun Simulator able to test intermediate-size modules like solar tiles. Its working area is 60 x 60 cm with module voltages up to 30 V.

Concentration Tester BV 81

The BV81 concentration tester is useful to test concentration cells at wafer level, before intagrating them in their concentration housing. It can accomodate wafers up to 6 inches and table is motion-controlled allowing automatic testing of large number of cells.

Pasan CTLAB 606

The Pasan Cell Tester CTLAB 606 is designed to meet the most demanding requirements of solar cell testing in laboratory. The apparatous is equipped with a temperature-controlled chuck allowing accurate cell temperature setting. Adjustable four-point contact probes can match virtually any cell pattern and eliminates contact resistance errors. Fully automated determination of a bunch of parameters like series resistance, shunt resistance, current coefficient versus temperature (alpha), voltage coefficient versus temperature (beta) as well as resistance coefficient versus temperature (kappa) can be done. Thanks to single-flash technology, the measurement parameters are very stable ensuring a high degree of reproducibility and low operating costs. As temperature and irradiance are programmable the equipment can perform automatically measurements at different temperatures and irradiance levels and extract the corresponding coefficients.

Pasan CTSLAB 906

The CTSLAB 906 is an enhancement of the CTLAB 606. The last generation Cell Tester is fitted for spectral response measurements. By changing manually a set of narrowbandfilters it is possible to record the cell response to various wavelengths and thus extract a spectral response curve. The filters are placed on a sliding bar fitted with 20 positions. Standard delivery includes nine 50.8 x 50.8 mm filters with wavelengths between 405 nm and 940 nm.

Pasan SISC 404

The shuntometers are simple low cost set-ups to determine the location of short-circuits (shunts). It allows a quick identification of material or processing problems and helps to prevent hot-spots which can occur at the module level. The manual system can reproducibly detect all major shunts in large area reverse biased solar cells. It allows therefore the imaging of large numbers of cells in a short time. The system is based on the use of commercial liquid crystal sheets which are brought into thermal contact with the solar cell by vacuum.The colour change of the sheet is an indication of the local heating of the cell at shunt locations under reverse bias at typical voltages between -2 and -10 V.

PET Standard System

In Europe, Belval SA represents the program of continuous-light sun simulation systems from Photo Emission Tech. (PET), Newbury Park, CA. The company manufactures and markets sun simulation systems that meet ASTM E927 (Japanese Standard JIS C8912 and International Standard IEC 60904-9) Class A and Class B requirements. These systems can be used for checking Photovoltaic Cell Performance and in any other application where the effect of exposure to sun light needs to be studied, such as photochemistry, photobiology or environmental exposure testing. Five standard systems are available for each class. Systems can be manufactured with three different air mass (AM) filters: AM0, AM1 and AM1.5. Class A systems are manufactured by Yamashita Denso Corporation, Japan, a leading manufacturer of Sun Simulators for over twenty years.
